LABRADOODLE

Black and white pencil drawing of a fluffy dog with a joyful expression, mouth slightly open.

A Labradoodle is a crossbred dog created by crossing the Labrador Retriever and the Standard or Miniature Poodle. The term first appeared in 1955, but was not popularized until 1988, when the mix began to be used as an allergen-free guide dog. Currently, they are not considered a breed by any major fancier and breeder organization. Because the Labradoodle is a hybrid and not a breed, puppies do not have consistently predictable characteristics. While most Labradoodles have some common traits, their appearance and behavioral characteristics remain, to some extent, unpredictable. As such, Labradoodles’ hair can be anywhere from wiry to soft, and may be straight, wavy, or curly. Many Labradoodles do shed, although the coat usually sheds less and has less dog odor than that of a Labrador Retriever.

Like most Labrador Retrievers and Poodles, Labradoodles are generally friendly, energetic and good with families and children (although as with any dog the temperament may vary between individuals). Labradoodles often display an affinity for water and strong swimming ability from their parent breeds.

Their parent breeds are both amongst the world’s most intelligent dog breeds

These puppies are Amazing. Lots of different colors and coats.  There temperaments are wonderful, they run and play when you want, then sit as still as can be. Labradoodles come from a combination of Labrador retriever and poodles. Both dogs are originally water dog and retrieving dogs. The goal of breeding a Labradoodle is to combine the best of both breeds, such as the intelligence and loyal personality of the Labrador retriever and the hypoallergenic coat of the poodle.  Since they are from retrieving, water and hunting backgrounds they love to swim, retrieve.

Ample socialization and training opportunities for the puppies mean they are well-rounded and ready to go to their forever homes. We strive to make sure each puppy is healthy and well-adjusted to go on to lead happy and fulfilling lives . The results are the cutest, sweetest, healthiest, non to low shed Labradoodles you have ever seen.

They have amazing temperaments and are great family dogs. They are very intelligent and easily trainable and thrive on human attention.  Also, very loving and loyal to their owners and make great companions. They are a hypoallergenic breed and are perfect for people with allergies.

Breeding:

We breed our Bajema Lab or AKC Lab mothers (our lab line of several generations,  smart, cool, and healthy) to our AKC super sweet standard Poodle (F1).  Or our multi gen Labradoodles, Vizeo, and Modelo to multi gen  moms. We are excited about each one of our puppies and strive to create the best possible mix of traits for each litter. Our Bajema Lab and AKC Lab mothers are very intelligent and loyal, and our standard Poodle sires are sweet and intelligent. We carefully select the sires for each litter to ensure that the puppies will have the best combination of traits from both parents.

We can also breed our current Poodle stud “Jose” to one of our Labradoodle mothers, to get F1Bs. F1B Labradoodles are a cross between an F1 Labradoodle (the first generation of a Labradoodle cross) and a Poodle. They are considered to be a “backcross“ because one of the parents is an F1 Labradoodle. F1B Labradoodles tend to have a higher success rate for non–shedding coats, making them a popular choice for those with allergies.

COATS:

Colors vary from red, chocolate, blond, black and white, some with markings, socks, or blazes. The markings really give them a unique look. Labradoodles can come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, including solid, merle, abstract, phantom, brindle, sable, and parti. The most common colors for Labradoodles are black, chocolate, apricot, and cream. They can also have combinations of any of these colors, such as black and white, red and white, or even chocolate and cream. Some Labradoodles may also have white markings or tan points, adding to their unique look.

Temperament:

Temperaments are great with a very solid “play when you ask and stay calm the rest of the time” attitude. Labradoodle Puppies are great with children and have a very gentle nature. They are intelligent and learn quickly and can be easily trained and tend to do well with other animals. Labradoodle puppies are sweet, loyal and loving companions.

They also enjoy playing fetch and are great tracking dogs. In addition, they can be trained to do search and rescue work. These guys can also make excellent bird dogs and shed dogs (deer antler retrieving) dogs.

A versatile breed that can adapt to different types of tasks. They are very intelligent, eager to please, and have an excellent work ethic.  Our doodles can be trained to retrieve, point, flush, and track small game and  can also be trained to hunt upland game, and waterfowl. With the right training and socialization, doodles can also be excellent hunting companions.
